While watching a beetle move between the petals of a rose, traveling this way-that way, closer to the center then farther away, then close again, Dale noticed that it appeared to be traversing a labyrinth … the rose as a labyrinth?… such a good word, Rose-labyrinth.
And if a picture is worth a thousand words, would not a good word be worth a thousand pictures? 1000 small drawings were inspired by this idea, and from these, large paintings on stainless-steel panels were made. One of these, a triptych painting on stainless steel was purchased by the Meredith Building in Des Moines, Iowa.
